At 60 I want to be able to do this....My favorite catalog is Athleta. I have a few things from them, mostly stuff I've found on clearance. However once I paid full price for a pair of their flip flops....LOVED them, for all of two months until a raccoon in McCall Idaho stole one, I digress that story has nothing to do with this post...
However, here's a pic of me in Idaho (2009), w/o the cute flip flops...in a cute Athleta suit....All summer I have been struggling with my food portions and changing shape. The real kicker was a couple of weeks ago and then another kicker occured today. A couple of weeks ago I had a conversation with a 59 year old woman who is severely out of shape. I have known this woman most of my life (not you mom) and I was so upset to hear how limiting her life has become because she has let herself fall apart. Then today while pumping gas I watched another woman in her mid to late 50's get in and out of the car, pay for her gas and pump the gas. It took the woman twice as long to do everything, every movement required so much effort.
I don't want to be that way. I want to be like my 60 yr old co worker MJ who runs Lake Murray or hikes Cowles Mtn 5 days a week. She is full of energy and can work harder on a 12 hour shift than most nurses half her age. She has abs and legs any woman would dream of, but she works at it. She is disciplined, as a result she is as active as ever. Nothing stops her.
I want to be active. I do not want to watch my functions melt away because of a lack of discipline. Plus gravity will soon be setting in and since I don't see plastic surgery in my future I must do everything I can to defy it so I can look good in my bikini when I am in my 60's!!!
So what is my plan? I don't know exactly, but I have felt for some time that I have wanted to blog my journey into a healthier, more athletic state. I am not sure that all my reader(s) would care or approve (aka, "you look fine the way you are") so that has kept me from moving forward, but gosh darn it it's my blog and I guess that means I can post whatever I want? Right?? Join me....
