While I have been lounging around this summer, Robb has ridden from here to New York City on his bike. (PS He found this bike lying on the side of the road, when he asked a nearby homeowner if he could have it the homeowner said he could, but that it was broken. This did not deter Robb, he packed in the back of the car anyways. Turns out the only thing wrong with this bike was that it needed a new double A battery! It has been riding smooth for two years now.) I digressed. Robb has been unable to run this summer due to two stress fractures in his foot. We think the fractures were due to those crazy shoes he is wearing in the picture...so besides the fact they are super ugly, do not buy any for yourself.
How does Robb manage to bike for two hours everyday? He watches all sorts of stuff on his TV on the deck while he rides! This was a present to himself.
Here is what Robb does best...build/fix things. Who knew he was such a handy man? This guy can do anything! Yes, he is an excellent nurse and runs the OR with no trouble, but where he really excels is in using his hands. This summer he spent a week with his brother and a team of college students in Jamaica hauling maul (concrete) in 90% humidity. They had a hard, but rewarding trip. I am so glad he was able to go and serve the Lord in Jamaica. After he was home for two weeks we left for a long weekend in Mexico. Again, he worked hard in the heat without complaint.
This was the first trip that I decided that I would bring both of my pillows. I have a treasured "side sleeping pillow" that makes me sleep like a baby. I figured if I brought my regular pillow and my side sleeping pillow on our Mexico trip then tent camping would be more tolerable. Guess what Robb forgot? His pillow. The first night I was a kind and gracious wife and shared one of my pillows, the second night he had to use Faith's dirty sweatshirt as a pillow. I woke up with a back and head ache. I think God was punishing me for not sharing!
